Led by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), the Monarch Nation team consists of organizations from coast to coast with experience in delivering science-based environmental education programming at the local level.

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA)
With more than 60 years of experience, TRCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario. Working with municipalities and other partners to look after the watersheds of the Toronto region and its Lake Ontario waterfront, we help people understand, enjoy and look after the natural environment. Our vision is for The Living City®, where human settlement can flourish forever as part of nature’s beauty and diversity.
The Bateman Foundation
The Bateman Foundation’s mission is to connect people to nature through the lens of art. Formerly the Robert Bateman Centre, the Gallery of Natures houses the largest permanent collection of Robert Bateman’s work, as well as a rotation of nature-inspired exhibitions. It is both a gallery and a multi-purpose meeting place for collaboration, creative thinking, and networking about in-nature education initiatives.
Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory
Situated on a 107-acre site which includes the environmentally sensitive Kossuth Bog, the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory includes a 10,800 square foot indoor tropical garden featuring thousands of free flying butterflies from all over the world, more than 100 different varieties of tropical plants, waterfalls, streams, reflecting pools, tropical finches, Chinese painted quails and red-eared slider turtles.
David Suzuki Foundation
Founded in 1990, the David Suzuki Foundation is a national, bilingual non-profit organization headquartered in Vancouver, with offices in Toronto and Montreal. Through evidence-based research, education and policy analysis, we work to conserve and protect the natural environment, and help create a sustainable Canada. We regularly collaborate with non-profit and community organizations, all levels of government, businesses and individuals.
Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute (MTRI)
MTRI is a non-profit co-operative with a mandate to promote sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity conservation in the Southwest Nova Biosphere Reserve and beyond through research, education, and the operation of a field station.
Mission Monarch
Want to help in the conservation of the monarch butterfly and have fun Participate in Mission Monarch! Mission Monarch is a research project dedicated to monarch conservation through citizen science. Help scientists better understand the breeding habits of the butterfly!
Monarch Teacher Network (Manitoba Region)
Monarch Teacher Network of Canada is a growing collective of educators and nature enthusiasts who teach and inspire people to connect with nature through hands-on training, teacher resources, and professional development workshops. We are committed to fostering a deeper connection to the natural world through explorations of art, science and environmental action.
Royal Botanical Gardens
Royal Botanical Gardens covers 1,100 hectares of Canada’s most biodiverse landscape, wrapped around the westernmost tip of Lake Ontario. In this area, within the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve and the Ontario Greenbelt, are nature sanctuaries that are home to almost 25% of Canada’s wild plant species. We dedicate our expertise in horticulture, conservation, science and education to connect people, plants and place for the purpose of nurturing and preserving healthy growing life on our planet.
